Neuropathy

We can help Neuropathy pain:

Neuropathy can flare up due to various triggers, including environmental factors like heat, lifestyle choices like excessive alcohol consumption and stress, and underlying health issues such as diabetes and infections. Managing these triggers can help prevent or reduce the frequency and severity of flare-ups, but consistent medical management of the underlying cause is essential.

Environmental and lifestyle triggers

  • Heat: Warm temperatures can exacerbate nerve symptoms like pain and numbness.
  • Stress: Emotional and mental stress can worsen neuropathic pain because the brain regions for pain and emotion are interconnected.
  • Alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption has neurotoxic effects that can damage nerves and trigger flare-ups.

Underlying medical conditions

  • Diabetes: Poorly controlled blood sugar can damage nerves, and this condition is a leading cause of neuropathy.
  • Infections: Certain viral or bacterial infections can directly attack and damage nerve tissue.
  • Autoimmune disorders: Conditions like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis can cause inflammation that damages nerves.
  • Nutritional deficiencies: Lack of essential vitamins, particularly vitamin B12, can lead to nerve damage.
  • Toxin exposure: Exposure to certain toxins and heavy metals can cause neuropathy.

Other factors

  • Injuries: Injuries, especially to the spine, can cause lasting nerve damage that leads to neuropathic pain.
  • Certain medications: Chemotherapy is a known cause of nerve damage.
